Overview

We believe in a world where fishing for tuna is not synonymous with damaging the environment. Yet, many fishing fleets still rely on unsustainable fishing methods, such as fish aggregating devices (FADs), despite the devastating amounts of bycatch and damage to the marine ecosystem caused by such methods. Even more troubling, current U.S. regulations on tuna fishing do not meet international standards in ensuring that no dolphins are harmed or killed. This section explores how current U.S. regulations fall way short of accepted international standards for protecting marine life and what must be done to achieve a culture of truly sustainable and eco-safe tuna.
